Build a Bergen Ave Bike Lane

Over 40% of Jersey City households don’t have a car. Instead, they get around by biking, taking transit, and walking. While the city has made great progress in Cycling and Complete Streets Infrastructure over the past several years, many neighborhoods, particularly Journal Square, McGinley Square, the West Side, and Greenville lag behind in safe connected bike routes.

Bergen Avenue has a bidirectional bike lane running between Montgomery St and Sip Avenue, but in McGinley Square both lanes end, ceasing safe connectivity to the West and the South. We ask Jersey City Council to vote in favor of the Department of Infrastructure’s West Side Connectivity Plan, which includes extending the protected bike lane South on Bergen Ave and having River-To-River connectivity, allowing safe connections between West Side and Downtown residents, businesses, and parks.
