The event will begin with an introduction by Barkha Patel, the Director of the Department of Infrastructure for the City of Jersey City, and will conclude with a panel discussion and Q&A with local advocates.
Location Update: The screening will now take place at the Hudson County Community College Multipurpose room, on the 2nd Floor of 81 Sip Avenue. Right across the street from the Journal Square Transportation Hub. Doors will open at 12:30pm.
The #1 Bus Chronicles:
The #1 Bus Chronicles uses a small sociological microcosm – a bus stop on an industrial highway in New Jersey – to intimately portray some of the most marginalized lives in America today - the ‘working poor’, the recently incarcerated, and immigration asylum seekers. In startlingly intimate encounters, strangers share hopes and dreams as well as stories of resiliency, suffering and loss. Many are in states of transition, struggle, or waiting for change.

The Street Project:
In 2010, the small community of specialists who pay attention to US road safety statistics picked up on a troubling trend: more and more pedestrians and cyclists were being killed on American roads. In fact, pedestrian deaths have increased 51 percent since reaching their low point in 2009. In addition to the loss of human life, it is estimated that road injuries will cost the world economy $1.8 trillion from 2015–2030.
THE STREET PROJECT is the story about humanity’s relationship to the streets and the global citizen-led fight to make communities safer.
Digging deep into the root causes of traffic violence, the filmmakers engage a diverse array of experts including street historian Peter Norton, city planner Jeff Speck, and urban design expert Mikael Colville-Andersen. These expert interviews are interwoven with the stories of real people working to make their communities safer.
